Juicy Couture, Eau De Parfum - Sounds Kinda Yum, tum ti tum tum…
My silly little ditty aside, I was just reading that description of this Juicy Couture scent and it got me thinking about copywriters and words and how they conjure up an air of ‘I want that-i-ness’ - Putting the word ‘Juicy’ to one side for a moment and focusing on the description it’s interesting how they got right in there and opened it up with the words ‘A Lush Mix’, which straight off the bat sets the scene and creates a platform for the words that follow creating this idea of a lavish exhuberant blending of exotic fruits, some of which we mightn’t even have heard of, yet retaining some familiarity by including a few that we have.
I’d never heard of Tuberose or Patchouli before mind but have since learnt that Tuberose is:
a Mexican bulbous herb (Polianthes tuberosa) of the agave family which is cultivated for its spike of fragrant white single or double flowers 1
with Patchouli being:
Patchouli: A bushy shrub originally from Malaysia and India. Supposedly the leaves were folded into the cashmere shawls shipped from India to England during Victorian times in order to protect the fabric from moths; eventually, the scent became a badge of authenticity and customers refused to buy unscented shawls. Patchouli has a musty-sweet, spicy aroma. 2
Ok, I know I know, hardly earth shatteringly interesting sure, but the point is that overall in combination with the other fruits and spices they help create an air of mystery and exoticness that in general people find appealing.
If we can be seduced with a few well crafted words then we are already halfway there to embracing whatever it is that is seeking to captivate us and get us to part with our hard earned money. Afterall what better way to reward ourselves or a loved one even with something that has been carefully blended and made with such a mixture of the fresh and the exotic, the mysterious and the familiar.
As for the perfume itself, personally I’ve no idea what it smells like (yet) but having sat here and typed a few words about it, I don’t doubt that I’ll ask about it the next timeI’m in a store, just so I can have a sniff, heck I might even buy a bottle for a girlfriend even. I might even come back here and click this Juicy Couture Perfume by Juicy Couture, 3.4 oz Eau De Parfum Spray for Women link and buy it online even, who knows. It does sound kinda yum after all, dontcha think?
